WHOOP, there it is! Matthew Vernhout named eec’s Email Marketer Thought Leader of the Year!

We’ve been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to write this post for a long time now, but finally, the moment is nigh. Matthew Vernhout, 250ok’s director of privacy and industry relations, has been named the 2019 Email Experience Council (eec) Email Marketer Thought Leader of the Year!


This award is given to an individual who has made incredible contributions to the vendor-side of the email marketing industry.

“Matthew’s contributions to the email community largely go unrecognized simply because he is such an integral and ingrained part of the fabric, which is exactly why he is so deserving of this award,” said Joe Montgomery, SVP of Marketing and Sales at 250ok. “Email is personal for Matt; it’s a mission, not a job.”

Matthew’s email experience spans more than 17 years, during which he has staunchly advocated for its potential through refining email marketing and privacy best practices, influencing anti-spam legislation and compliance with international laws, and managing ISP expectations. In addition to his role at 250ok, he is a Certified International Privacy Professional (Canada) (CIPP/C), founder of the Canadian Email Summit, editor-in-chief of EmailKarma.net and serves as part of a select group advising Parliament regarding Canada’s Anti-Spam Law, CASL. He is also currently the Vice Chair of the eec, after serving several years as the Chair of the Advocacy Subcommittee.

The Email Experience Council is the premier organization for email marketing professionals, composed of integral participants to the email marketing community. The mission of the eec is to be the voice of the email marketing community, and the source of knowledge and expertise for new entrants and seasoned practitioners.
